Housing Assignments

The housing assignment process for incoming first-year students begins in June, when students are emailed a link to the online housing application. Housing and roommate assignments are typically distributed via email in early August. Learn more about housing assignments here.

The Office of Residence Life & Housing works one-on-one with each transfer student to place them in housing based on their individual needs and timing.  Transfer students should feel free to call or email us with any questions about their housing process.

Housing Calendar

Providence College residence halls close during Thanksgiving, Winter, Spring, and Easter breaks. It is the responsibility of students to plan their travel in accordance with these dates. Students who have a need to stay on campus during a break must complete a Break Housing Application.

Fall Move-In

First Year Student Move In | Incoming first-year students typically move onto campus the week prior to the start of classes to participate in the College’s New Student Orientation program. Please use the links below for more information about first year student move-in.

Returning Student Move In | Returning students typically move onto campus the weekend prior to the start of classes. Please use the links below for more information.

Housing Selection

The Housing Selection process takes place in the spring for the upcoming academic year. Click here for more information about the process, key deadlines, study abroad information, and more.

Summer Housing

Summer housing opportunities are limited to students engaged in specific on-campus activities. Click here for more information about activities that qualify for summer housing and application instructions.

Summer Storage

As stated in the Student Handbook, Providence College and the Office of Residence Life & Housing do not allow the storage of personal belongings within the residence halls. There is also no space on campus dedicated to long-term storage of students’ belongings. For students who have summer storage needs, the College has partnered with the UPS College Storage Program.
