Returning Students – Welcome Back to Friartown! 

Fall 2024

All students returning to Providence College are scheduled to move onto campus Monday, September 2, 2024 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The Office of Residence Life & Housing will allow a limited number of students to voluntarily arrive on Sunday, September 1.  Students must notify the Office of Residence Life & Housing of their intention to arrive on Sunday by completing an Early Arrival Intention Form available beginning June 1, 2024 on the left hand side of their eRezLife account. This form will be open on a first come first serve basis and will close once we have reached capacity for Sunday move in. Students who live an extreme distance (250 miles or greater will be given first priority). Please do not arrive outside your scheduled move-in day as we may not be able to accommodate youBedford, Cunningham, Davis, Mal Brown, McCarthy, Shanley & St. Joseph Halls have reached their capacity for move in on Sunday, September 1st and we are no longer accepting requests to arrive on that date.

Students should plan to arrive according to the following schedule on Monday, September 2, 2024: 

  • Cunningham, Guzman (even numbered rooms), DiTraglia, Koffler, McCarthy, Shanley residents should plan to arrive between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. 
  • Bedford, Davis, Guzman (odd numbered rooms), Mal Brown, St. Joseph, and Sullivan residents should plan to arrive between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. 
  • College owned houses (formerly known as hybrid housing) residents should plan to arrive between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. 

Students who have submitted an intention to arrive on Sunday, September 1, 2024 should plan to arrive according to the following schedule:

  • Bedford*, Davis*, Guzman (odd numbered rooms), Mal Brown*, St. Joseph*, and Sullivan residents should plan to arrive between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. 
  • Cunningham*, Guzman (even numbered rooms), DiTraglia*, Koffler, McCarthy*, Shanley* residents should plan to arrive between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. 
  • College owned houses (formerly known as hybrid housing) residents should plan to arrive between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. 

*We are no longer accepting requests from residents of these buildings to arrive on Sunday, September 1 for these buildings as they have reached capacity for this move in day.

We ask that families make every effort to follow their assigned move-in window to minimize vehicle congestion on campus and reduce wait times at the buildings and move in queuing line.

Students will be emailed directions for move in and a move in day parking pass.

Students living in the following buildings should enter campus through the Huxley Gate (GPS Address 210 Huxley Avenue)

Students living in the following buildings should enter campus through the Eaton Street Gate (GPS Address 61 Eaton Street)

Early Drop-Off Days! 

We are pleased to be offering students and families the option to drop off their belongings in their room, suite, or apartment during Early Drop-Off Days.*  Early Drop-Off Days are scheduled for Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.  The Early Drop Off sign up form will be available in mid-July.

Students and families participating in early drop off days should enter campus through the Huxley Gate (GPS address 240 Huxley Avenue).

Students participating in Early Drop-Off Days are expected to move the majority of their belongings into their room on that day. They will be directed to not wait in the move-in queuing lines on move-in days and will be instructed to go directly to a parking area and walk from the parking area to their building. Students should bring with them on move-in day only what they can reasonably carry to their buildings from a parking area.  More information and directions will be provided to students who sign up in early August.   

*The Early Drop-Off option may not be available for all residence halls depending on summer maintenance projects.  

Early Arrival Requests 

Students who believe they are eligible for early arrival, must apply for early arrival and receive approval from the Office of Residence Life & Housing.  Students may apply through eRezLife by completing the Early Arrival Request for Fall form (available after July 1).  Please do not complete this form if you are part of an approved student group for early arrival (e.g. pre-orientation programs, resident assistants, orientation leaders, pre-season athletes, etc.) as the faculty or staff member working with the group will apply for early arrival on behalf of the group.  Students may be eligible for Early Arrival if… 

  • They live an extreme distance from the College. Extreme distance students are permitted to request to arrive one day prior to their scheduled move-in date. (See Extreme Distance FAQ for more information).  Extreme distance returning students are eligible to arrive on Sunday, September 1, 2024 and should complete the Early Arrival Intention after June 1. 
  • They are an international student. 
  • They have an on-campus job and have received authorization to begin work prior to the start of the semester.  Your supervisor must verify your dates of employment via an email to reslife@providence.edu

Early arrival approvals are not guaranteed, and students should not assume that by submitting their request, their request will be approved.
